End of season

End of 2010 season

Hey guys have an end of season update for you all here.

Starting with my results for the regional champs. I didn’t ski so well this competition as i wasn’t well on the Sunday. However still managing to take out gold in all the events slaloming 2@12, Tricked a new regional record of 5540 which was my new trick run, however i fell early so still missed out on about 1000 points so i knew i still had a lot left in the tank for the nationals.

Unfortunatley the jump ramp was broken and taken away for repair so we were unable to jump at regionals so our nationals score was taken as our regional score. How ever still jumping 5 meters further than anyone else from my region i got the gold.

For the second year running i have taken out 4 golds at the regionals and was awarded the champion of champions trophy.

Natonals 2010 Wanganui water ski club

This years Nationals were held at the Wanganui water ski club and the conditions for the week where near perfect!

There was a lot of competition for slalom this year. Going into the slalom semi final in 5th seed but managing to slalom just enough to make top equal seed with Calum Ross from New Plymouth.

Finals day was not much better performance wise, the weather was perfect for slalom but no one was performing. Most of the top seeded skiers where about four bouys behind where they should be, which made 2@12 enough to take the gold in slalom.

My Main competition in the tricks this year, again was my good mate Jarrod Wade, who is capable of tricking mid 5000 points. So this year i though i would have to go with my “hard” run, Starting with front flip which worked out really well. I stood up my hand run with all six flips and a ski line back but unfortunately falling just before my last few ticks in my second run. Still tricking a new personal best and South Island trick record of 5850 which also took me into top seed by almost 1000 points.

The Trick final was a lot tighter competition. Unfortunately I missed my last flip but still managed to stand up my second run which gave me the gold by a close 130 points.

This year jump was a tough one. Because our ramp down in Christchurch had broken i had only been over a ramp once maybe twice within six weeks on nationals. So Fair to say i was a little out of shape but still jumped a suprising 47.9 meters which again was seeded first into the final. Unfortunately i was not mentally prepared for the jump final and could only manage 45meters which gave me the bronze medal behind Karl Shultz who jumped just over 48m.

Overall the end of the season and the nationals championships went really well and don’t think i could have been much happier with the final results.

life back in kiwi land

Hey Guys,

This summer has been a bit up and down with the skiing. started really slow finding it hard to get back on it after a big season in england.
I was Picked to ski for New Zealand at the Ozi/Kiwi challenge which was held in Auckland late january. I didnt slalom to my expectations falling early on the 12 m line which unfortunatley didnt give me any placings. Also falling early in my trick run but somehow still managed to take the gold. My Jump was up tp standard tho. im the final round flying 49.1 meters to give the the gold by about 6 meters. also took out overall.

Scince coming back home things have been pretty crazy. skiing with new zealand top jump skier, Kyle Eade, who sadly had a crash jumping and has done some serious damage to his neck and will be in hospital for the next few months. we all wish hime the best

I will post some pitures once i recieve them from the photographer which should be in the next week or so.

WORLDS MEXICO

Hi all,

It was a big effort to get to Mexico, our flight from london was delayed so we missed our connection in Amsterdam and LA. So a good 12 hours later was our next flight from Amsterdam to Paris to Mexico City then to Guadalajara

We had time to look around the local markets and what not and had a few days to get some time on the water. The lake is very different to ski on compared to Liquid Leisure, Being so much warmer it is a lot slower. I really like the jump ramp, so was expecting to get some big scores.one on of the practice days Stacey went straight out the front and did some damage to her ankle to unfortunaly being unable to jump and trick. Although she slalomed any way and still made the finals.

Huge ups to Stacey who jumped a personal best by about 6 meters. flying 41 meters!! Also to Emily who jumped a personal best by 2 meters.

My aim for the competition was to jump 50m. My opening jump was a solid 49, i knew i had a lot more left in the tank so i was quite confident. Jump two was about the smae spot on only an improvement by 40cm. So on my third and final i went a bit wider and a bit later but compleatley missed my kick and crashed a little but still went 48.6m. i was quite gutted because all i could think about was "what if i got my kick it was going to be massive"

Slalom wasn't to bad either i equalled my competition best of 3@12. so all in it was a great competition with some great site to see also. now im in LA for a few days kicking it and going to hit up universal studios in the next few days. until next time peace!!

Nightmare at Liquid

Wazz up,

Been having a sic week on the water cant complain with anything.

Last night the Nightmare pulled into the car park so, once seeing it i couldn't resist. i managed to talk my way into getting it in the lake for a jump set. Although i jumped behind this boat at the night jump it was a completely different set.
i had no pressure more than just three jumps to get use to it. Compared to the boat i am use to the nightmare had an endless amount of power, which was great but my timing was all out of place. Non the less was sic to ski behind such a world class JUMP boat. Huge thanks to Will from Mastercraft for the sic set!

Had a sic slalom set this week also running the 12m line for the second time this season and skiing 1@11m only 1 buoy behind my personal best. Tricked much the same the last few days landing my flip sequence starting with my front flip so planing on putting that at the start of my run for worlds. still needs a little bit of work but i think I'm able to do it.

until next time
Rip it up!!

Pics Finally

Whats up....

Although i have lost my camera some friends had taken a few snaps from the club champs on Sunday. So Check them out!!!

Slalom went well running deep down 13M line. early as you like into 5 but rode a flat ski which pulled me narrow so unfortunately was unable to ski into the 12 m line. My practice scores have been getting deep down the 12m line so its all on the way up for Mexico!!!

As I previously have told you my jumping has been going well after slowing down the boat speed to have more control on my ski's. Taking a jump of 48 meters at (54km) on Sunday which is, believe it or not, bigger than most of my jumps all season at 57km. which i guess just goes to show the faster the boat doesn't mean the bigger the jump.

As for my tricking was more of just a fun set on the weekend showing a few of the different flips to the people on the bank. still been nailing 5 flips which i was able to show the Spiked team on Thursday but an finding my front flip super difficult right now. I'm not quite getting my edge right so the load i need is not quite there. but no doubt i will figure it out next week after the weekend is over and done with.
I will have to sort of a camera in the next few days so you can all see what i get up to on and off the water. Until then
PEACE!
